Best Coffee Shops in Dublin

Clement & Pekoe

Clement & Pekoe is an independent, Dublin-based coffee shop, with two locations in the city. The first one is in the north, on Blessington Street, and the other is in the south, on South William Street.

This is a genuine Irish coffee shop, featuring coffee from roasters all over Ireland. The expert baristas will help you pick the perfect roast, and you can also buy a bag of beans to prepare delicious coffee at home.

You’ll love Clement & Pekoe even if you’re not a coffee drinker, as their tea collection is seemingly endless! 

Both Clement & Pekoe locations have spacious interiors where you can sit down, enjoy your coffee and catch up with friends. However, if you planned on working on your laptop, you might want to skip this cafe, as they have a no-laptop policy on the weekends!

Shoe Lane Coffee

This unusually named coffee shop got its name as it opened in the street that was known as Shoe Lane for 150 years.

Shoe Lane Coffee takes pride in serving artisan single-origin coffee and for a good reason! Their coffee is absolutely delicious. They have two locations in the city, on Tara Street and Dun Laoghaire. 

All of their coffees and matcha lattes can be made with vegan milk as well! This is a great spot for breakfast, as they offer a wide variety of pastries, from mince pies to cinnamon bus. 

Another plus is they open super early, which is great for those early risers!

While the shop might seem small from the outside, they have extra seating upstairs if you want to have your drink inside.

Queen of Tarts

If you’re looking for cute cafes in Dublin with a great choice of desserts, this modern tearoom should be on your radar. 

Queen of Tarts serves some of the most delicious cakes and pastries in Dublin, with a large selection of drinks. There is also a selection of salty dishes, which make for a great brunch option.

Drink and cakes are served in vintage-style dishes, for an ultimate high tea experience. While it might seem impossible to choose which cake to take, you must try their classic Victorian sponge cake or a unique Guinness cake!

    Coffeeangel

    Coffeeangel is one of the best coffee shops in Dublin, and it’s been operating since 2004! Today, it is a Dublin-wide chain, and you can have their delicious coffee in 4 different coffee shops throughout the city.

    They serve coffee and light meals, so it is a good place for breakfast or lunch. You can work in Coffeeangel, as they have a lot of seating in most of their coffee shops and it tends to be quite calm.

    As they specialize in coffee and the coffee-making process, you can also buy some coffee gear to prepare delicious coffee at home!

    Top tip: If you bring your own to-go cup, Coffeeangel makes a donation to environmental organizations.

    Beanhive Coffee

    Beanhive is a family-owned cafe in the city center of Dublin. 

    While their coffee is undoubtedly excellent, what makes this spot special is the unique coffee art decorations. Latte art is on another level in this small cafe, and people line up outside the shop to get their unique drink!

    Beanhive also serves generous Irish breakfast and lunch options. If you’re vegan, this might be your favorite Dublin coffee shop, as all their food is available as a vegan option at no extra charge!

    The place is small so you might have to queue if you want to sit inside. There is also a small terrace in front of the cafe for sunny days. 

    Two Pups Coffee

    Two Pups Coffee is one of the best hidden gems in Dublin. This cafe is located close to Saint Patrick’s Cathedral. It is one of the Dublin coffee shops with the best ambiance, with plenty of seating and cozy corners.  

    The best thing you can try in this cafe, apart from coffee, is their brunch! It is generous and delicious, with a large menu of brunch options from French toast to arancini.

    Two Pups is a dog-friendly cafe, so it’s a great option if you’re looking for a place where you can bring your dog.

    Keoghs Cafe

    Keoghs Cafe is an iconic Dublin cafe, and it is best known for its large and tasty breakfasts.

    Don’t let the long lines discourage you from trying this place, it is well worth the wait! While it might look small from the outside, it is actually a large cafe with plenty of seating. 

    If it is your first time in Ireland, make sure to order their full Irish breakfast menu to have an idea of what a proper Irish breakfast should look like! The portion is quite large, so it can easily double as a lunch too.

    Their coffee is delicious, and they have vegan milk alternatives available.

    The Tram Café

    Did you ever want to grab a coffee inside a historic tram? This is your opportunity!

    The Tram Café must be one of the most unique coffee shops in Dublin, as it is situated inside a historic, green tram. 

    As you might imagine, the tram is quite small, so there are just several tables available. However, if you get a seat, it is truly an unusual coffee setting. Luckily, there is a large terrace in front of the shop that you can enjoy on a sunny day. 

    The Tram Café serves warm drinks and light meals, so you can stop by for a quick lunch as well!

    Groundstate Coffee

    If you’re looking for good coffee in Dublin, you won’t be disappointed by Groundstate Coffee.

    While they are an artisan coffee shop, they also have quite a large food menu. Whether you want a healthy smoothie bowl for breakfast or a lunch sandwich, you’ll find something for yourself. They also have a lot of vegan options!

    It is close to the Guinness Storehouse, so it makes for a perfect stop before or after you visit the brewery.

    Proper Order Coffee Co

    If you are a coffee expert looking for a place that specializes in making high-quality coffee, look no further than Proper Order Coffee Co.

    You have to try their flat white, it has the reputation of being the best in the whole of Dublin!

    They also serve a small selection of delicious pastries to pair with your coffee. One of the guests’ favorites is the Cardi B cardamom bun, but they change the pastries seasonally, so you can expect something new often!

    The coffee shop is quite small, so most people get their coffee to go.

    The Stage Door Cafe

    The Stage Door Cafe in Temple Bar is a blend between a coffee shop and a bar. It is no wonder their specialty is Irish coffee, the one with Irish whiskey, of course!

    If you start your morning here, you can’t miss their full Irish breakfast, as it is massive! It can easily double a lunch as well.

    This cafe feels like an old-school pub, with massive wood furniture to go along. The staff is friendly, and they are happy to help.

    The Bald Barista

    The Bald Barista is a great two-floor cafe with plenty of seating and delicious coffee. 

    It is located just outside Dublin Business School, and it is a popular spot among students. 

    The Bald Barista is a great coffee shop to grab a quick lunch, as they have a lunch and breakfast menu, including vegan options!

    If you order a cappuccino or flat white, expect to get a cute latte art with your coffee.

    Lemon Jelly Cafe

    Finally, we have Lemon Jelly Cafe – one of the best coffee shops in Dublin on the north side of the river. 

    It is a very popular spot for Irish breakfast, especially on the weekends, so it is not uncommon to see queues in front of the shop. They have a lot of sweet and savory breakfast options, so you’re sure to find something you like.

    Their coffee is made by trained baristas, so it is especially smooth and delicious. Those who don’t like coffee can choose among a wide variety of teas, flavored hot chocolate, and matcha lattes.
