With so many Dublin Instagram spots, it can be hard to choose! Especially if you are visiting for a short period of time, you want to be able to plan your stops throughout the city.
Luckily, we studied abroad in Dublin for an entire five months in college and know the city like the back of our hands.
We, of course, being the Gen Z travelers that we are, tried to find every Instagrammable place in Dublin throughout our trip and have now compiled it in a list just for you.
If you’re visiting Dublin and want to get some great shots for your Instagram feed, there are a few places you should definitely check out. From iconic landmarks to picturesque parks, here are the best spots for taking photos in Dublin.

The #1 place to take a photo in Dublin is Temple Bar. While it’s touristy, you can’t miss out on visiting this area for a photo.

Best Dublin Instagram Spots
The Temple Bar
📍47-48, Temple Bar, Dublin 2, D02 N725, Ireland
First up is one of the best Dublin Instagram spots, and it’s probably one that you’ve already heard of, too… it’s The Temple Bar! Now, don’t get me wrong, it’s definitely a touristy spot, but it’s so worth visiting.
Keep in mind, too, that it’s way less busy during the day versus at night.
The Temple Bar is one of the best places to take a photo in Dublin because of its bright red colors and vibrant atmosphere. Plus, it’s almost always decorated. It was styled differently when we landed in January versus when we left in May!
The Temple Bar is a popular tourist destination, but it is surely one of the most photographed places in the city. Skip out on buying a drink here (unless you really want one for the ‘Gram), though – head across the city to find a local pub instead.
When you take a picture at The Temple Bar, you will be able to capture the essence of Dublin in your photo.
Ha’penny Bridge
📍Bachelors Walk, North City, Dublin, Ireland
One of the best places to take a photo in Dublin, Ireland, is Ha’penny Bridge. The bridge, which was built in the spring of 1816, spans the River Liffey and offers stunning views of the cityscape.
It’s one of the most popular tourist attractions in Dublin and is often crammed with people taking photos. If you want to get a great photo of Ha’penny Bridge, try to get there early in the morning or late at night when it’s less crowded.
We absolutely loved stopping by it in the evenings while everyone was out at the pubs. It catches a beautiful reflection of the night sky and is truly picturesque.
The Brazen Head

The Brazen Head is a great photo spot that’s fairly underrated! It truly has everything you need for a classic picture that screams, “Yes, I went to Dublin!”
This is an Irish pub that’s often decked out in beautiful florals, and it is also the oldest pub in the country. So, it has quite a bit of history. Plus, there’s almost always something fun going on there that can add quite a bit of life to your photos.
The pub is definitely busiest in the evenings, so if you would prefer a photo without others in it, try to stop by in the morning.
St. Patrick’s Cathedral
📍St Patrick’s Close, Dublin, D08 H6X3, Ireland
Another of the most Instagrammable places in Dublin is St. Patrick’s Cathedral, which is truly an iconic spot. The cathedral was founded back in the 12th century and serves as the country’s national Church of Ireland cathedral.
This is the very church where Gulliver’s Travels author James Joyce is buried, and there are many interesting exhibits inside where you can learn a lot about Irish history. There are also tours hosted at this church.
The exterior of the cathedral is beautiful, with its Gothic architecture and stunning stained glass windows.
But the real Instagrammable spot is inside the cathedral, where you can get a close-up view of the detailed carvings on the walls and ceilings. The light shines through the stained glass windows and creates a magical atmosphere inside the cathedral!
Stephen’s Green Shopping Center

I know what you’re thinking… one of the Dublin photography spots is a shopping center? But yes, Stephen’s Green Shopping Center is one of the best places to be for a photo while in Dublin.
We stumbled upon this shopping center during our first day studying abroad in the city, and it quickly became a place we frequented if we wanted to get some shopping done.
The interior is a beautiful green and cream theme, and it’s often decorated for some occasions.
For a great photo, try to go on a day when the sky is bright, so the lighting is vibrant. Then, go to a higher floor of the shopping center so you can see the entire place from above.
With its striking modern architecture, this makes for a beautiful backdrop for any photo. So, whether you’re looking for a place to snap a selfie or capture a group shot, be sure to swing by here if you can.
Christ Church Cathedral

Christ Church Cathedral is one of the best spots to take a photo in Dublin, Ireland, if beautiful architecture is up your alley.
The cathedral is located in the heart of the city near Dublin Castle, and its stunning Gothic and Romanesque architecture is incredibly photogenic.
Additionally, Christ Church Cathedral has a beautiful green space surrounding it, which makes for a perfect backdrop for your photos.
So whether you’re looking for a breathtaking architectural shot or a serene photo, Christ Church Cathedral is definitely the place to go!
Be sure to check when their services are daily, though, because you want to be respectful of those who are actually going to church here.
Gravity Bar at Guinness Storehouse
📍Located in Guinness Storehouse, Market St S, The Liberties, Dublin, Ireland
The Guinness Storehouse is one of the most popular tourist attractions in Dublin, Ireland, and it happens to be one of our faves. The storehouse is a seven-story building that houses a museum dedicated to the history of Guinness beer!
Visitors can learn about the brewing process, see old and unique beer advertisements, and taste different types of Guinness. The storehouse also has a rooftop bar with panoramic views of Dublin called the Gravity Bar.
The bar is the perfect place to take a photo of the cityscape.
This is one of the places that you will have to book tickets for in order to access it. We purchased ours about 24 hours in advance for a May visit, but if you are only in Dublin for a short time, book further in advance.
Our timed entry was around 5 p.m. the bar was very busy, so plan your time wisely.

Phoenix Park

Phoenix Park is a beautiful and picturesque spot that many people overlook, especially when only spending a day in Dublin. It is the largest park in all of Dublin and isn’t that far from the city center.

Phoenix Park is a popular destination for both locals and visitors alike, so there are always plenty of people around to add energy and life to your photos. Whether you’re capturing candid moments or posed shots, the park is a great place to take pictures.

Dublin Castle

There are few places in Dublin that offer such a perfect photo opportunity as Dublin Castle.
The castle is one of the most iconic landmarks in the city, and its striking architecture is sure to make your Instagram feed pop, especially with its combination of old architecture and bright colors.
But beyond its looks, Dublin Castle is also steeped in history, making it one of the most interesting places to visit in the city.
The castle was first built in the 13th century and played many roles in the country’s history. It has served many purposes, ranging from court to a fortress and everything in between.

I know what you’re thinking: a college is one of the best places to snap a photo in this city? Well, yes! Trinity College Dublin is where the Book of Kells is housed, and this historic university dates back to the 16th century. It features breathtaking architecture.
The best way to take photos here is to just walk around the campus. There are some spots outside in the courtyard where you can take pictures easily. Just be sure to respect the students if you happen to be visiting during the school year.

National Gallery of Ireland

If museums are more your style, then be sure to pop into the National Gallery of Ireland. It is completely free to visit and has a variety of historical pieces that have to do with Ireland’s history. Many of the exhibits are permanent, but some are temporary.
Throughout the museum, there are many spots where you could take a photo if you wanted to. From art to sculptures and more, there’s so much to choose from. Plus, the building itself is an architectural masterpiece with its gorgeous facade.
St. Stephens Green
Located right next to the shopping center is a beautiful park called St Stephen’s Green. This public park is almost always busy with students from the nearby Trinity College Dublin relaxing or working, but many tourists also stop here just to relax.
This park is beautiful with its landscaping, mixed with a lake, flowers, trees, and even benches where you could sit and just enjoy the beauty. In the winter, the place looks even more magical, though it is absolutely beautiful year-round.
While you’re here, you could even stop on Grafton Street to do some shopping or grab a quick bite to eat; there are many cheap spots to eat there!
Kilmainham Gaol
📍Inchicore Rd, Kilmainham, Dublin 8, D08 RK28, Ireland
This is another historical spot to visit for a photo while in Dublin. Kilmainham Gaol opened in the 1790s and served as a jail for County Dublin, and it actually did hold some political prisoners over the years.
In fact, the jail was involved in a lot of Ireland’s history, such as the 1916 executions.
Kilmainham Gaol is one of the best places to take a photo in Dublin, Ireland. The historic jail is full of character and offers a unique perspective on the city.
The imposing building is also surrounded by green space, making it a great spot for nature lovers.
And, of course, the views from Kilmainham Gaol are simply stunning. So whether you’re a professional photographer or an amateur shutterbug, make sure to add Kilmainham Gaol to your list of must-visit Dublin Instagram spots.
River Liffey
It’s nearly impossible to miss the River Liffey while going through Dublin because it splits the city up. It’s very centrally located and looks beautiful all time of day, but at night, it’s especially beautiful.
We’d stop by and just take in the view every time we were out in the evenings in Dublin.
At night, this area tends to quiet down a bit because everyone is in pubs and bars, so the night is definitely the best time to take a photo. There are also many other great restaurants and cafes that line the river, so you could stop and take a break if you want to.
The Umbrellas

We stumbled upon this little spot in Dublin one day while exploring and completely fell in love. It’s easily one of the best Dublin Instagram spots, and it truly is just a ton of colorful umbrellas that line a street. How cool is that?
This spot is also lined with some restaurants and other shops, so if you love the view that much, you could easily also just sit and enjoy the view.
Some of the restaurants even have tables and chairs that sit right in the street, so you can dine under the umbrellas.
Howth Cliffwalk
There are few things more picturesque than the Irish coastline, and the Howth Cliffwalk is one of the best places to take in its natural beauty! This coastal path offers stunning views of the sea and sky, as well as the opportunity just to relax.
Whether you’re taking a selfie or a group photo, this is definitely one of the best spots for snapping an Instagram-worthy shot in Dublin. There are quite a few different paths here, and they vary based on the length and difficulty of a hike you want to do.
We loved that there are also some spots where you could stop and have a quick break if you wanted. We joined a bunch of others with a picnic blanket and had a quick PB&J before continuing on with our hike.
Bray to Greystones Cliffwalk
Similar to the Howth Cliffwalk, the Bray to Greystones Cliffwalk is also beautiful. It’s a lot less traveled than the one in Howth, which is what we loved about it.
We didn’t cross paths with anyone else while spending a morning here on a weekend.
This coastal walk offers beautiful views of the water. You can start on either end, but I recommend starting in Greystones and then ending in Bray so you get the view of the Bray Promenade at the very end.
The walk itself is also relatively easy, so you’ll be able to take your time enjoying the scenery. Just be sure to bring a camera with you to capture all the beauty!
Doors of Dublin
Last but not least is just the colorful doors throughout Dublin! Many of the residences throughout Dublin feature these beautifully-colored doors that just pop in the city, especially against the historic architecture.
Just walk around the city, and you’ll see them. You could also just ride one of the buses around and get off when you see some great doors.
Just remember that these doors belong to people who own these homes, and people do live in them. Be respectful if you try to snap a photo of one of them.
