Tips for Visiting During Spring in Arches National Park
Here are our tips for enjoying a spring trip to Arches.
Reserve a timed entry pass in advance
If you’re planning on visiting Arches National Park in the springtime, it’s important to reserve a timed entry pass in advance.
With more people looking to visit this beautiful place every year, it is essential that we practice responsible stewardship of our public land by avoiding overcrowding. A timed entry pass allows us to do just that – limit the number of people entering the park at any given time while still allowing everyone who wants to visit Arches National Park an opportunity to do so.
Your other option (which we normally do) is to get to the park before the timed entry passes start. This is perfect if you plan on catching the sunrise anyway.

Make an itinerary
Exploring Arches National Park in springtime can be an unforgettable experience. To make the most out of a visit to the park, it’s important to plan ahead and be prepared for changing conditions.
During the spring months, temperatures can range from chilly and wet to hot and dry, so packing clothes for both extremes is key. Additionally, some trails may be impassable due to snow or rainfall, so planning in advance will help you find alternative attractions or hikes that are accessible.
Planning your day also helps you make sure you’re at each spot in time for the best lighting and angles for photos!

Hike early in the day
Hiking in Arches National Park during spring can be an unforgettable experience. Hikers can witness some of the most breathtaking views in nature and explore trails that stretch across the park’s iconic rock formations.
To make sure you get the most out of your visit, it is essential to hike early in the day when temperatures are milder, and there are fewer other visitors. Hiking in the early morning hours allows you to take advantage of cooler temperatures.
Also, it offers a unique experience as you watch the sunrise over the colorful terrain and get a front-row seat to how sunlight illuminates different parts of the park.
The views are incredibly stunning when dew points settle on plants or fog wraps around sandstone structures which adds another layer of beauty to your journey. Make sure to bring plenty of water, snacks, and a camera for capturing these spectacular moments.
At the very least, make sure you do the popular Delicate Arch trail first thing in the morning. The other trails aren’t nearly as busy as that one!
