Where to Stay When Visiting Bryce Canyon

Whether you’re visiting Bryce Canyon with one day or a week in Utah, it can be hard to decide where to stay. There are so many options, from local towns to places further out, that serve as the halfway point between Bryce and Zion National Park. Luckily, this post covers precisely where to stay when visiting Bryce Canyon, depending on your needs, and includes everything from Utah cabins to hotels.

Where you stay can play a massive part in how much you enjoy your trip to Bryce Canyon, run by the National Park Service. For instance, if you are an early riser, you may want to consider staying right in the park and camping, while if you’re visiting on a tighter budget, Tropic may be a better option for you.

So read on to find the best place to stay during your trip to Bryce Canyon National Park! 

Bryce Canyon National Park, where to stay for early risers

If you’re the type of person who likes to wake up and get to national parks early, then you’ll want to stay right in Bryce Canyon National Park.

Luckily, you have a few options, including campgrounds and even a lodge if you prefer not to be out in nature at night.

Bryce Canyon Lodge

First up is the Bryce Canyon Lodge, which is located right in Bryce National Park. This is one of the most popular places to stay when visiting the park, so you have to book your reservation well in advance, especially if you plan on visiting during the peak season in the summer.

While the lodge is open for most of the year, it is closed during Bryce Canyon’s winter season from November to March.

Staying here allows you to get to the best things to do in Bryce Canyon earlier in the day by beating the crowds.

At Bryce Canyon Lodge, there are quite a few different options for accommodations. Choose between classic cabins, guest suites, sunrise & sunset lodge rooms, or a guest studio. Of course, the price fluctuates depending on which you book.

The lodge features many amenities, including mini-fridges, coffee machines, phones, radios, and more.

Note that there isn’t air conditioning in the rooms because even in the summer, Bryce Canyon overall is pretty cool, and it doesn’t usually get higher than the 80s in the evening once the sun goes down.

Sunset Campground 

Consider camping right inside the park at Sunset Campground. This is a reasonably popular campground in the park because it has a great location, only a mile from the visitor center.

At this campground, there are 100 sites with 50 tent sites and 50 RV sites. Staying in a tent is an awesome outdoor option, but be sure to choose the right sleeping bag, so you’re comfortable.

There aren’t any electrical hookups in this campground, but there is potable water that you can grab near the dump station. So, make sure that you have all the best RV accessories and must-have camping gadgets with you to make sure your RV is set for the night!

On average, tent costs per night are $20 a site, while RVs are $30 a site. In the summer months, between April and October, reservations are needed to stay the night. Outside of those dates, it’s first-come, first-serve.

North Campground

If you’re on a road trip, stay at North Campground, one of the cool places to stay near Bryce Canyon. This campground is also located near the Visitor Center and has easy access to the Fairyland Loop Trail and the Rim Trail, some of the best Bryce Canyon hikes.

Similar to Sunset Campground, there are 50 tent sites and 50 RV sites located at the campground. Amenities include trash collection, a nearby camp store opened seasonally where you can buy ice and firewood, and even seasonal laundry facilities. 

Costs for North Campground are the same as those at Sunset Campground; $20 a site for a tent and $30 a site for an RV.

From the end of May to the beginning of October, reservations have to be made to stay at North Campground. Any other time, it’s first-come, first-serve, so you can feel free to stop by and see if there’s a spot available during your visit!

Tropic, where to stay near Bryce Canyon on a budget

Located right outside of Bryce Canyon National Park is a small town called Tropic. This is one of the cheap places to stay near Bryce Canyon. It’s where I opted to stay during my trip to Bryce, so I can vouch for how great of a location it is!

Below are some of the best hotels in Tropic if you’re wondering where to stay when visiting Bryce Canyon.

Bryce Country Cabins

The Bryce Country Cabins has great single cabins for rooms and is one of the best places to stay near Bryce Canyon. Rates are pretty great here, especially in comparison to the pricing in Bryce Canyon City.

Each of the Bryce Canyon cabins features an outdoor patio with chairs and also grill access. The cabins are family-friendly, check-in is smooth, and there are quite a few restaurants just a quick walk (or drive) down the road.

I opted to stay at Bryce Country Cabins during my visit to Bryce Canyon, and it’s where I plan on staying when I get the chance to visit again! Plus, each room has air conditioning, so you’ll be comfortable during your stay, especially in summer.

Bryce Canyon Log Cabins

Another great place to stay in Tropic is the Bryce Canyon Log Cabins. These are similar to the Bryce Country Cabins, and we have actually stayed here before as well. Each room at this accommodation is a bit bigger than other cabins in the area because they were built a bit more recently.

Amenities are abundant at the Bryce Canyon Log Cabins. You can find air conditioning, a microwave, a coffee maker, a television, and even free wifi. With a short drive to Bryce Canyon, this is a great place to stay when visiting the national park.

You can even request a room with barbecue access or a mountain view if you want, though each of the cabins has a pretty great view.

Red Ledges Inn

When visiting Bryce Canyon National Park, the Red Ledges Inn is a great place to consider staying. It’s a short ten-minute drive from the park entrance and is relatively affordable, with the average nightly rate usually around $50.

Amenities include a restaurant, smoke-free rooms, air conditioning, refrigerator, flat-screen TV, parking, wifi, and breakfast. There’s even a fitness center in case you want to hit the gym during your visit.

If you’re wondering where to stay near Bryce Canyon, Red Ledges Inn is a great place to consider because they also allow longer stays with some of their rates. You can book your stay for a week or more to unlock those rates!

Bryce Pioneer Village

Bryce Pioneer Village is the perfect place to stay if you also want to visit Kodachrome Basin State Park during your visit to Bryce Canyon, as it’s located halfway between both parks.

The average nightly rate at Bryce Pioneer Village is around $150, and they have a motel and cabins, so you have your pick when it comes to accommodation.

While continental breakfast is not included, amenities include wifi, air conditioning, maid service, TV, desk, and free parking. There’s even a restaurant right on campus called the Showdowns Restaurant and Dinner Theater, where you can watch shows while eating your meal.

This is a popular place to stay for couples and solo travelers!

Panguitch, where to stay for families

Are you wondering where to stay when visiting Bryce Canyon with your family?

Consider staying in Panguitch, a town located just north of Bryce Canyon. It is a bit further out than Bryce Canyon City or Tropic, but it’s about thirty minutes drive away from the park.

Days Inn by Wyndham Panguitch

For a great place to stay on a budget in Panguitch, consider staying at the Days Inn. It’s a 2-star motel but is a great place to rest your head in the evening after a busy day of exploring Bryce Canyon National Park.

This accommodation has tons of amenities, including free continental breakfast, a microwave, air conditioning, a coffee maker, free parking, and a mini-fridge in each room. It’s also a close drive to the Dixie National Forest.

Rooms range in price depending on the time of year and type of room booked but tend to be around $110 per night. Choose between a king room, a queen room with two beds, or even a king suite!

Rodeway Inn Bryce Canyon

When you travel to Bryce Canyon, the Rodeway Inn is a great place to consider staying. Not only is it right near the Red Canyon Trailhead, but it’s also not that far from the entrance to Bryce Canyon National Park.

The inside of each room has a very cozy and casual atmosphere with hardwood furniture. There’s free wifi, pet-friendly rooms, laundry facilities, and free coffee, and the entire hotel is smoke-free, which is why it’s great for families. 

This accommodation is also near both the Kodachrome Basin State Park and the Dixie National Forest.

Panguitch Countryside Cabins

For more of a classic outdoor accommodation, if you’re wondering where to stay when visiting Bryce Canyon, look into staying at the Panguitch Countryside Cabins. On average, pricing starts at about $100 per night.

These cabins were recently built, so they’re nice and updated. You can choose between double queen cabins or king cabins. Each one has the same amenities, including a microwave, mini-fridge, wifi, and air conditioning, among others.

By staying here, not only can you get easy access to Bryce Canyon National Park, but the Grand Staircase-Escalante National Monument is also not that far from here, as well as Zion National Park.

Kanab, where to stay between Bryce & Zion

If you’re looking for places to stay near Bryce Canyon and Zion, consider staying in Kanab. This town is an excellent location because it’s located between Bryce and Zion, but closer to Zion than Bryce.

Comfort Suites Kanab National Park Area

Comfort Suites Kanab is one of the best hotels near Bryce Canyon National Park. It’s about 30 minutes from Zion and an hour and a half from Bryce, but it is also near Moqui Cave, Lake Powell, Coral Pink Sand Dunes State Park, and Grand Staircase-Escalante National Monument.

They have various room options, including king suites with sofabeds, two queen beds, and single king suites. Each room comes equipped with a desk and chair, television, premium wifi, access to an outdoor swimming pool, gym, and more.

Rates fluctuate depending on the time of year but tend to be around $90 to $120 per night.

La Quinta Inn & Suites by Wyndham Kanab

Another great place to stay in Kanab is La Quinta Inn & Suites by Wyndham Kanab, with nightly prices averaging around $130. The hotel is relatively modern and is perfect for those who want to visit both Bryce and Zion.

With a variety of rooms, you can choose whichever one is best suited for your needs. There are rooms with two queen beds or one king bed. Join their membership program for a special nightly rate to save some money!

There are great amenities here, including an outdoor pool, breakfast, free wifi, gym, microwave, mini-fridge, desk, TV, and more. Each room is also non-smoking, so this is a perfect place to stay for families visiting the area.

Red Canyon Cabins

The Red Canyon Cabins in Kanab is another of the more affordable options in the area, with prices typically not exceeding $75 per night. The customer service at this accommodation is superb, and past travelers rave about the cleanliness of the rooms.

Each private cabin has free wifi, great views of the nearby mountains, and a patio. Plus, if you visit in the summer, you can make use of the air conditioning. This has been a popular place to stay among couples who are national park hopping.

Choose between a triple room, king room, or queen room. The triple room can host up to six guests at a time, so it’s perfect for larger groups!

Bryce Canyon City, perfect for first-timers

If you’re wondering where to stay when visiting Bryce Canyon as a first-timer, then you have to stay in Bryce Canyon City.

This is the place to stay due to its easy accessibility, which as a first-time visitor, is super important.

Best Western Plus Ruby’s Inn

The most popular hotel if you’re thinking about where to stay when visiting Bryce Canyon is the Best Western Plus Ruby’s Inn. With a 4-star rating and just shy of 6,000 reviews, this place truly is top-rated.

The Best Western Plus in Bryce Canyon has an onsite restaurant, two swimming pools, free wifi, free parking, and more. You can even book a nicer room with a spa bath or hot tub just for yourself.

There is a wide variety of rooms available, including king rooms, queen rooms, and family suites that can host up to six people at a time. Rates vary depending on which type of room you book.

What makes this such a great place to stay is that it’s also right on the Bryce Canyon shuttle, so you can quickly get to the park without a car if needed during peak season.

Best Western Plus Bryce Canyon Grand Hotel

Another great hotel right on the shuttle line is the Best Western Plus Bryce Canyon Grand Hotel. It’s a mile from the park and only ten miles from the Grand Staircase Escalante National Monument.

The hotel boasts tons of amenities, including a fitness center, swimming pool, wifi, and even laundry facilities right on the premises. Every room even has toiletries, a coffee machine, air conditioning, and a television.

Choose between king suites, king rooms, queen suites, or queen rooms.
