In this interview, get introduced to Alina from World of Lina!

My name is Alina and I’m a 22-year old vegan travel blogger and content creator from Austria. On my blog “World of Lina” I mainly share helpful destination guides from around the world, vegan travel tips, and food guides. Moreover, I also write about my travel experiences as a vegan and rather unknown destinations that are worth visiting.

How long have you been blogging for?

I started my blog in January 2019, so almost 1.5 years.

Travel has always been my greatest passion and in May 2018, I started sharing all my travel photos on my Instagram account.

Ever since then, people kept telling me I should start a blog where I can write down all my experiences too. I wasn’t so sure about that but decided to give it a try eventually.

Now I’m more than happy I did it because working on my blog is one of the activities I enjoy doing the most.

I guess sometimes it’s good to listen to other people because without their encouragement I wouldn’t be where I am right now!?

Do you have any tips for new travel bloggers?

Be patient and don’t compare yourself to others.

Running a travel blog is hard work and you will feel like there’s something new to learn every single day. It can take quite some time until you will see some results but it’s worth it.

Most of the successful bloggers have been blogging for a few years so don’t stress yourself!

What do you wish you knew before you started traveling?

How addictive it is haha 😀

But honestly, every time I return from a trip, I feel like booking the next plane ticket right away.

It’s almost the same as getting a tattoo.

Right after you got the first one, you want to have more and more! At least in my case.

Why do you love to travel?

One of the main reasons I love to travel is to discover the diversity of our planet.

From big cities to dry deserts, lonely beaches, and giant mountains – Earth has so much to offer and I want to see everything with my own eyes.

Moreover, I find it interesting to experience other cultures and get to know people from all around the world.

For me, it’s one of the most fascinating things to find out the way people live in different countries.

What’s your best and worst travel experience?

I had a lot of amazing travel experiences and I’m very grateful for each of them.

The most remarkable and memorable one was probably my stay at a desert camp in Morocco.

Sleeping under the stars of the Sahara was a truly unforgettable experience and I even had tears of joy in my eyes as I was really overwhelmed with emotions!

I guess I can call myself lucky because I can’t really think of a bad travel experience right now.

Besides some delayed flights and an emergency landing – nothing serious and we could continue our journey after 5 hours – I never had any major incidents. (knock on wood)

Do you prefer solo travel or traveling with others?

To be honest, I like both.

I did a lot of solo trips and enjoyed having the freedom of deciding where to go and what to do.

However, I also love traveling with my friends or my sister because then I have someone to share all the amazing moments with.

What’s the best place you’ve ever been to?

I swear, every time people ask me this question, I find it really difficult to give them an answer.

Simply because all the places I’ve been to were special in their own way.

For example, I loved India because it was colorful, vibrant, and kind of overwhelming – in a good way.

Whereas other countries like Montenegro and Morocco surprised me with their stunning landscape.

Then there are cities like London that make me want to go back again and again.

Yeah, I think I can’t tell you only one of my favorite places.

What’s your biggest travel tip?

It’s good to plan ahead but sometimes it’s great to not have a concrete itinerary and just go with the flow.

Sometimes these are the most adventurous and unforgettable trips!

Is there one specific thing you like to do, see, or buy with each place you visit?

For me, it’s important to learn more about the history of a place, thus I love visiting museums. Plus, one of the first things I try to do is to find a good viewpoint to see the place from above.

Three years ago, I started collecting postcards so every time I travel somewhere, I buy one for my wardrobe at home.

What’s the best food you’ve had traveling?

When I was in India, I tried the dish Aloo Gobi for the first time and instantly fell in love!

It’s a well-seasoned and tasty plant-based dish made of potatoes and cauliflower cooked with tomatoes, onions, and spices.

I always try to eat mostly local food but as a vegan, this can be really hard sometimes. Therefore, it makes me incredibly happy if I find local dishes that are 100% plant-based and yummy!
