Barker Dam

It takes 25 minutes to complete this hike, which makes it family-friendly and can be done year-round. Make sure to leave the pups at home, though, as, like many of the trails in Joshua Tree National Park, they are not permitted.

Halls of Horrors

Arch Rock

Take a short hike, averaging about 25 minutes, down Arch Rock, with an elevation of 88 feet. Open year-round, it is best to take plenty of water with you; even though it is a short hike, it does get hot!

You are in the desert, after all. With an incredible view at the end, it is worth the scrambling of rocks to get to!

Cap Rock

Most people can complete this hike in about 10 minutes, but take your time to enjoy the surrounding views! It is open all year and a great spot for meeting other hikers. There are great signs along the trail that allow you to learn more about the area.

There are a lot of great amenities in this area, too, like grills, picnic tables, and restrooms in case those are needed. This spot at sunset is truly unparalleled!

Oasis of Mara

Oasis of Mara is considered to be one of the easiest trails in all of Joshua National Park, with a whopping 9-minute turnaround time. If you go at sunrise, you may be able to meditate as it is quiet during that time of day.
