Since this is the third in a series, it may contain spoilers for the first and second novels.

Story: This novel starts right where the last one left off. Because of Ever’s decision, once she and Damen come in contact with one another, Damen dies and will be sent to the shadowlands.

At the beginning of the novel, Ever finds Romy and Rayne. They have not been able to return back to Summerland since Ever made her decision. According to them, it was the wrong decision. Ever brings them to Damen. We find more about Romy and Rayne’s past. We also find that Romy, Rayne, and Damen have known each other for quite some time.

Ever’s aunt finally tells her that she needs to get a job. Her aunt found her a job as a secretary, which is a job that Ever really doesn’t want. Instead, she goes and finds herself a different job. She finds a job giving readings at a little shop. She gets the job from Jude, who currently owns the shop.

After Damen finds out who she is working for, he can’t resist telling her about her past once again. Every time that Damen came into her life in the past, a reincarnation of Jude was with her. They must have been a couple or something. Damen says that it is probably karma and there is most likely unfinished business.

He believes that Ever’s real soul mate is Jude and always will be. Because of this, Damen refuses to see Ever for the rest of the summer. At the end of the summer, she must make a choice and decide who she would like to be with.

Characters: In the third novel of the Immortals series, Ever has finally adjusted to being Immortal. I kind of feel bad for her since all along, her real soul mate might have been Jude, not Damen. I don’t think her life will ever be the same again now that she knows that.

I liked Damen a lot in this novel. I appreciated how he gave Ever the choice of being able to choose who she wanted. I also liked how he decided to give her some space.

Jude was a surfer who was also a psychic. I think that he had a thing for Ever. He always seemed so happy when Ever was around. I also think that he enjoyed having someone (well, in his eyes) to talk to who was just like him.

*spoiler* I felt bad for him in the end when Ever yelled at him and told him that she didn’t ever want to see him again just because she saw the tattoo that Roman had on Jude’s back. *spoiler done*

All in All: Shadowland was full of twists and turns and I full-on enjoyed it. I can’t wait to pick up Dark Flame. I’m sure it won’t disappoint. Have you read this novel? I’d love to hear your thoughts!

  1. I knew about the immortal series late, and right now I'm catching up. Thanks for the review 🙂 There is just this thing I am so curious about, so are you saying that Jude is Ever's real soulmate? What about Damen? Is it supposed to be a one sided love for Damen? Thanks a lot. -Ve
