Rose Montgomery parks her family’s trailer in Fort Glory, Oregon with one goal: to carve out a new life for herself and her little brother, Charlie. They need a fresh start for their family, and she thinks she's finally found it in a town where nobody knows them.
But Rose’s plans come crashing down when, in an instant, Fort Glory disappears and every person in town vanishes into thin air—including Charlie.
Rose and four other teens become trapped in the Fold, a patch of woods caught halfway between the real world and the lost town. In the Fold, a mysterious force suspends the laws of physics, and everyone’s inner darkness has the power to kill.
To survive the Fold, Rose must unravel the clues Charlie sends her from the missing town. And Rose has to find Charlie soon—or he'll be gone forever.
As many of you may know, I am a huge fan of science fiction novels, which is why I was so excited to be a part of the tour for Before I Disappear by Danielle Stinson! I thoroughly enjoyed this book.
The main premise is that she and her family just moved to Fort Glory, Oregon, yet soon enough, the entire town disappears within a week of them moving there. I don’t want to go into too much detail, because I don’t want to accidentally give anything away, but I will say that the premise is what kept me hooked the whole time.
It was unlike anything I had ever read before, and I really just wanted to keep reading to see how it was going to end! Though it did get a bit slow at times, it still had a huge amount of unputdownableness. I literally sat and read this entire book in one day, which I haven’t done in a while!
Oh, and did I mention how great the character development is? Especially with Rose and Charlie. I loved their relationship from the very beginning all the way through until the very end.
I will say that I also really enjoyed Stinson’s writing style, which I’m sure you’ll get a glimpse of in my favorite quotes posted below. There was just something about it, and I’m happy to say that I’ll give anything by Stinson a read again in the future, and so should you, especially if you’re a fan of the Gone series by Michael Grant or Stranger Things!

Quotes I loved:
“Then one day, he handed me a screwdriver, and I knew that I was born to hold one. Call me a sucker for anything practical.”
“Even here in the dark I am not alone.”
“The dark doesn’t scare me. And I’ve never needed eyes to see.”
“It sucks when every stranger has a fully formed opinion of you. It makes you feel like who you are doesn’t matter nearly as much as what they think of you.”
“We’re stuck in a cage without bars.”
“Mom told me once that every person was a strange land with their own strange weather.”
“There are things in this life you don’t have to understand to believe, and these are the things that matter.”
