How long have you been blogging for? Why’d you decide to start a travel blog?

I’ve been blogging since January 2020. I was thinking about it for years, writing for it and had the website, but not until last January did I go live.

In 2012 I started reading travel blogs, and loved it. That’s when I thought, I can do this too. But I procastinated on it for a long time.

Do you have any tips for new travel bloggers/aspiring travel bloggers?

For aspiring travel bloggers I can say just do it, dive in. It’s fun and you’ll love it, although its a lot of work.

What’s one thing you wish you knew before you started traveling?

How much fun and rewarding it is. I should have taken a gap year to backpack.

Why do you love to travel?

I love to travel because I love seeing new things, whether it being natural, cultural or an experience. A new museum, a city to wander through, a nature park or a personal story from a local. I love it all and can’t get enough of it.

Later on the love for road trips got added. After our first trip through Iceland I was hooked. Being on the road is the best, a new place every day/ every few days.

Since we have a child, making memories and having all the time for the 3 of us got added to it.

What’s your best and worst travel experience?

Best: Finding the Fancy Gap cabins on our road trip through the USA. It was the perfect place to stay overnight. We loved talking to the owner, the cabin had the perfect view on the Blue Ridge Mountains. There were fireflies, bunnies and deer on the grass in front of our cabin. A rocking chair on the porch made it all perfect.

Worst: The fog we had on the Cabot trail on Cape Breton island. We had only one day to drive the Cabot trail on our road trip through eastern Canada. That day there was thick fog almost the whole route, so we had none of the mesmerizing vistas, just a white world..

Do you prefer solo travel or traveling with other people? Why?

I prefer traveling with my husband and son. I love having time as a family together and getting to share experiences.

What’s your favorite place you’ve ever been to? Why?

There are so many favorite places, hard to narrow it down to one. Iceland stands out, with its beautiful and outer worldly nature and landscapes. Driving around the island, seeing my first geysers, all the waterfalls, the utter silence it was life changing. Iceland was our first road trip. It made me fall in love with Iceland, going out in nature and road trips.

What’s your biggest travel tip?

Don’t press in too much things, enjoyment should come first. This way you don’t get, but have great and happy memories.

Is there one specific thing you like to do, see, or buy in every place that you visit?

A Christmas ornament, our tree is full of Christmas ornaments from all over the world.

Is there one particular food that you’ve tried while traveling that you loved? What food was it and why do you love it so much?

Duck was a food I tried for the first time properly in the Dordogne in France and loved it from the start. The duck was tasteful, flavorful meat and a fatty crust around it.
