An avid traveler and a history lover, she curates travel guides with efficient itineraries, captivating photography and practical tips. She works full time, and currently runs two travel blogs.
HOW LONG HAVE YOU BEEN BLOGGING FOR? WHY’D YOU DECIDE TO START A TRAVEL BLOG?
I have been blogging since 2015, but invested time and money on my blog since early 2018. I love traveling, and am a history graduate – I always wanted to be associated with the tourism industry, and a travel blog seems to be a way to go.
DO YOU HAVE ANY TIPS FOR NEW TRAVEL BLOGGERS/ASPIRING TRAVEL BLOGGERS?
Investing in your blog is essential. Take SEO courses to understand and start ranking on Google. I highly recommend focusing on one additional media to boost traffic and volume like Facebook, Pinterest, or Instagram. Pick whichever works for you, and you enjoy doing. I LOVE being on Pinterest and it has worked wonders for my blog.
WHAT’S ONE THING YOU WISH YOU KNEW BEFORE YOU STARTED TRAVELING?
That is way easier to travel – you don’t need a ton of money or time off from work. You just need a plan, and a well researched itinerary.
WHY DO YOU LOVE TO TRAVEL?
Traveling to me is like reliving my history classes. From walking the Latin Bridge where the First World War broke out to admiring the Mayan creations at ChichenItza. It is one big classroom for me, where I fall in love with cities, capture memories, eat and soak in local cultures.
WHAT’S YOUR BEST AND WORST TRAVEL EXPERIENCE?
My fondest travel experience was arriving at Trocadero Gardens in Paris to enjoy breakfast with my husband, whilst admiring the Eiffel Tower. I love traveling so much that I don’t have any worst or negative memories. I have been traveling for 12 years, and I have never been duped/scammed, nor lost anything. I think planning is key to enjoying a lovely trip. Plus being open minded helps!
DO YOU PREFER SOLO TRAVEL OR TRAVELING WITH OTHER PEOPLE? WHY?
I travel with my husband, and he is the best travel partner that I can ask for. He matches up with my passion for travel. I do enjoy the company of others, as I love going on guided history tours.
I am pretty chill, and can get along with others.
WHAT’S YOUR FAVORITE PLACE YOU’VE EVER BEEN TO? WHY?
Paris was my favorite for a long time, but now Lisbon is ahead. Just love everything about the city – from history to architecture, laid back vibes and boy it’s so affordable.
WHAT’S YOUR BIGGEST TRAVEL TIP?
My biggest travel tip is to travel and pack light. Packing light is liberating, you can land in a city and then just start exploring right away – no paying for baggage fees, no waiting for luggage and no paying for lost bag insurance!
IS THERE ONE SPECIFIC THING YOU LIKE TO DO, SEE, OR BUY IN EVERY PLACE THAT YOU VISIT?
History and culture walking tours are my favorite thing to do in a new city. And I love collecting postcards and fridge magnets – they are like my trophies!
IS THERE ONE PARTICULAR FOOD THAT YOU’VE TRIED WHILE TRAVELING THAT YOU LOVED? WHAT FOOD WAS IT AND WHY DO YOU LOVE IT SO MUCH?
I LOVE pastel da nata (Portugese sweet) and I don’t have a sweet tooth normally. Second best is cevapi (Balkan food) – a plate of cevapi is super filling!
