Rose has changed. She still lives in the same neighborhood and goes to the same high school with the same group of kids, but when she woke up today, something was a little different. Her clothes and hair don’t suit her anymore. The dogs who live upstairs are no longer a terror. She wants to throw a party—this from a girl who hardly ever spoke to her classmates before. There’s no more sadness in her life; she’s bursting with happiness.
But something still feels wrong to Rose. Because until very recently, she was an entirely different person—a person who’s still there inside her, just beneath the thinnest layer of skin.
As soon as I heard the synopsis for Change Places With Me, I knew that it was a book I had to get my hands on. I’m so glad that I did!
The story follows Rose who one day wakes up and decides that she’s different. She decides that she now wants to be called Rose and she is pretty happy with herself and her life. She’s definitely changed. However, her history is different because she wasn’t always Rose.
I really loved that this book honestly doesn’t fit into one particular genre. It was part romance and part science fiction, yet there was also a bit of a mysterious tone as well. I honestly don’t know what I’d categorize the story as, and for me, that added to my overall enjoyment of the novel.
Rose was a very interesting character. She was so alluring to read about. I kept flipping pages because I wanted to know more about her and the world that she lives in.
I read Change Places With Me very quickly because it was such an intriguing story line. I wanted to know what was going to happen next. The story was about 200 pages as well, which left me wishing I had more time with the characters in the end! I know for sure that I’m going to be checking out more by Lois Metzger in the future.
