Wanted by no one.Hunted by everyone.
Sixteen-year-old Nathan lives in a cage: beaten, shackled, trained to kill. In a modern-day England where two warring factions of witches live amongst humans, Nathan is an abomination, the illegitimate son of the world's most terrifying and violent witch, Marcus. Nathan's only hope for survival is to escape his captors, track down Marcus, and receive the three gifts that will bring him into his own magical powers—before it's too late. But how can Nathan find his father when there is no one safe to trust, not even family, not even the girl he loves? Half Bad is an international sensation and the start of a brilliant trilogy: a gripping tale of alienation and the indomitable will to survive.
I was so pumped when I received an email about Half Bad by Sally Green. I had been wanting to check out the book for such a long time but never got around to it! Now that I’ve read the book, I’m here to tell you that you’re going to want to check it out ASAP.
In the beginning of the book, you’re instantly thrown into a world of witches. You immediately meet Nathan and instantly begin to feel for him. Nathan is also a half Black half White witch, which means he’s half evil and half good. The reader even gets some history about where he came from and how unwanted he was by his mother.
I absolutely loved this book. I felt so bad for Nathan because he never asked to be the way he is. He was just dealing with the cards that he had been dealt like anybody else would’ve done. I can’t even imagine what it must be like to be the son of a murderous man who was the baddest witch ever. Everyone even expected him to grow up and be just as bad as his father to the point where they told him he was more of a Black Witch than a White Witch even though he’s actually 50/50.
I also thought that I’d comment on the amazing world building in this story. World building is a very important part of rating novels for me and Sally Green absolutely blew me away with hers. I loved the idea of good witches and bad witches because it was such a unique idea. I also really liked how there was some information on how people were categorized as a black witch or a white witch.
After finishing Half Bad, I can honestly say that I can’t wait until I get my hands on a copy of book two. What’s even better is book three will be out by the end of the month! If you haven’t started this series yet, now is the time to start marathoning!
