“Even if everyone thought I was lying, why couldn’t they just leave me alone? I hadn’t asked for any of them to believe me. I hadn’t asked for them to worship me.
I hadn’t asked them for anything.”

Mina is top of her class, girlfriend to the most ambitious guy in school, able to reason and study her way through anything. But when she finds herself pregnant—despite having never had sex—her orderly world collapses. Almost nobody believes Mina’s claims of virginity. Her father assumes that her boyfriend is responsible; her boyfriend thinks she must have cheated on him. As news of Mina’s story spreads, there are those who brand her a liar. There are those who brand her a heretic. And there are those who believe that miracles are possible—and that Mina’s unborn child could be the greatest miracle of all.

As soon as I heard about Immaculate,  I knew that it was going to be a special book. I mean a girl who is a virgin yet ends up pregnant? It sounded pretty interesting, obviously.

The story follows Mina who ends up being pregnant even though she’s a virgin. She had the perfect life before becoming pregnant too. Now, everything is different. As the story goes on, she has to try to come to terms with what has happened to her.
I think this story fell flat for me a bit mainly because of the ending. I thought that the story was going to be absolutely amazing and have an even more mind-blowing ending, though it didn’t in my opinion. It kind of just ended and left many of my questions to be answered. On that note, I’d still suggest giving it a read if you’re interested, because it is very unique.

  1. Lisa Mandina says:

Hmm, this was one I'd been interested in reading. But based on your review, I'm glad I didn't go ahead and request an egalley of it. I'll save it for a read later when I have more time. Great review!

  2. This sounded to me like Virgin Mary's sort of retelling! This is really an odd book. I'm intrigued to read it already. Hopefully I will like this too as much as you did, Krystianna! 🙂

Thank you for sharing this! 🙂 xx
