The first book in Alyson Noël's extraordinary new Immortals series. Enter an enchanting new world, where true love never dies...
After a horrible accident claims the lives of her family, sixteen-year-old Ever Bloom can see people's auras, hear their thoughts, and know someone's entire life story by touching them. Going out of her way to avoid human contact to suppress her abilities, she has been branded a freak at her new high school — but everything changes when she meets Damen Auguste.
Damen is gorgeous, exotic and wealthy. He's the only one who can silence the noise and random energy in her head - wielding a magic so intense, it's as though he can peer straight into her soul. As Ever is drawn deeper into his enticing world of secrets and mystery, she's left with more questions than answers. And she has no idea just who he really is - or what he is. The only thing she knows to be true is that she's falling deeply and helplessly in love with him.

Cover Review: I’m not a big fan of the cover, but I do like the roses since they tie in with the book.
Main Character: Ever Bloom

Story: Ever’s family died in a car accident, and she was the only one who survived. She can see auras, and she tries to be ignored in school. She only has two friends, Hazel and Miles.

Everything changes once Damen comes to school. After sitting in class right next to each other for a while, Ever starts to fall for him. At one point, Ever sneaks into Damen’s house to find that he has a room filled with things that he shouldn’t… not if he is from this time period anyway. He has paintings of himself painted by Van Gogh & Picasso. There’s no way that Ever believes that they’re real. After Damen finds that Ever found his stash, she finds that he is immortal and has been alive for about 500 years. She also finds that she was saved in the horrible accident by Damen. He has fallen in love with her reincarnated self many times in the past, and everytime she dies. Damen decides that he doesn’t want to go through that again, so he brings her back to life.

Ever is told that if she starts drinking the immortal juice, she too will become immortal.

Characters: I felt bad for Ever. She lost all of her family. Sometimes she gets to see her sister, Riley, but that’s about it.

Damen was the mysterious one. I find that in most paranormal romances, the love interest is always mysterious. Has anyone else noticed that? Anyway, Damen seemed to have found his way into Ever’s life, once again. It all started just because Miles and Haven had Damen sit with them at lunch.

Miles and Haven were great best friends. Miles seemed like a fun guy to be friends with. Haven was always there when Ever needed her.

All in All: This novel is fantastic. It’s a great start to an even greater series. After I read this one, I couldn’t wait to dig into the next novel.

Rating: 4/5 Lightning Bolts
